When it comes to acting, most people think of reading lines and trying to capture the emotion or essence of a character. While that description may be entirely true, many people fail to realize the importance of vocal technique in acting. Whether it’s mastering accents or developing a strong, flexible and open voice, vocal training is an excellent way to expand your acting abilities.
Most well trained actors focus on resonance, breathe work and articulation in their daily practice routine. If a director calls for more volume or projection during a scene, an actor must be able to pull it off at the drop of a hat without damaging their voice. Similarly, an actor needs to learn how to free their voice in order to properly convey drama, chaos or pain.
